Construction Site Activities

For the second time around, Lia pulled my arm this morning and said, "school!" This made me really happy, as it is a sign that she has actually adapted to our daily routine! We started the day reading Sherri Rinker's Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site.

Though I personally love this book, I have to train Lia to sit through the whole book {though I know she is in the active stage}. While I was reading, she kept saying, "bye book, close book!" So since she's the boss, I gave up and decided to read it again at a later time.

We moved on to our activity sheets that I have printed out from Royal Baloo's Zoomin-Moving Alphabet {awesome printables!}.

Cement Mixer worksheet that can be used for Magnet/Do-a-dot Activity. I love that it's bright and colorful!

Guess who wanted to do her own way?! Stacking magnets it is! We have to work on this next time!

She has greatly improved in using these dot markers from the first time she tried it. She can actually stamp them in the designated white circles, along with stamping other areas too...Ha!

Then she couldn't wait when it was time to play with our construction site-themed sensory box! I cut out this box and painted it using acrylic paint, to depict a construction site at night. Then I poured black beans, which is one of our favorite sensory materials.

I printed out little construction site signs, glued them on foam sheets and a pospicle stick...
The little crane, cement mixer and bulldozer completed the scene! I didn't have a construction worker, so this little farmer guy will do for now. In this picture, Lia was trying to let him sit on the truck.

Scooping is her favorite thing to do, aside from getting her hands on paint!

These little trucks actually run!

That's my busy little girl! She did play with it for awhile. This has been one of the best sensory boxes I've done!
