Day Four, Apple Pie!

We are now on day four into our Apple Theme! At this point, I am beginning to realize that Apples for one whole week was too much. I knew that as I go along these activities, I would come to a decision on what to do the next weeks that'll follow. But since I have already prepared for this week's activities, I am determined to get through the end of it. I'll completely sort out a different plan for next week.

We started the session singing the song, "Ten Little Apples", to the tune of "Ten Little Indians." Lia danced around as I sang.

After a good warm-up, I sat down and immediately started cutting felt. I decided to make a cut-up apple, so Lia can see what's inside an apple too. Then she can arrange them accordingly, including the seeds. I originally wanted her to glue them together, but I figured that sewing it for a Quiet Book sounds better. Lia enjoyed the activity, doing it over and over again. I love seeing her tiny fingers at work!

When Lia was done, we moved over to our next activity, which was making an apple pie from playdough. We sliced them in triangle shapes {hand over hand}, and Lia would decorate them with little apples on top. While she was busy, I took the opportunity to read  the book,  "How to make an Apple Pie and see the World" by Marjorie Priceman.

She took the time enjoying this playdough activity, which is her favorite. But of course, when her gestures were telling me she's getting bored, it was time to shift. I gave her a pre-writing practice worksheet she can try. I guided her hand, from one point to the other, explaining that we "follow the black lines."

Then I gave her the chance to do it on her own...

and she did well... My 22-month old impressed me!
She made beautiful strokes that makes me one proud mama!

Last day for Apple Week tomorrow, and I'm happy that we had a productive and wonderful four days of tot school. I can't wait to plan out for next week!
